Every single time

27 Sep

Every single time “Run To The Hills” by Iron Madien plays on my laptop, I think it’s “Dance Commander” by Electric Six. Words cannot express my disappointment, after getting ready to hear Dick Valentine serrenading me with his gravelly, sexy voice, a guitar kicks in instead. “Waah, wah waaaaaaaaaah, wah, wah waaaaaaaaaaaah”.

Don’t get me wrong, “Run To The Hills” is still a great song, and I do enjoy performing some over the top dramatic air guitar to it, but it’s just those 5 seconds before the guitar kicks in, waiting to hear Dick Valentine echo the beautiful lyrics “You must obey the Dance Commander”, getting yourself all psyched up for the chorus to start, picturing it in your head. You, on stage, jumping around singing “Dance Commender” to a crowd.

And then remembering watching Electric Six perform at ABC with Orkney, and remembering how in love you felt at that moment, how happy you were, waiting to relive that feeling once more. As soon as that “wah, wah, waaaaaaaaaaaaaah, wah, wah, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah” starts, you realize, that no. For the next 3 minutes and 45 seconds, you’re not going to be reliving that magical moment,  or remembering the good ole days at ABC, and how that was a great time in your life. You’re going to be rocking out to your hearts content at some heavy metal music.

And it’s just not the same.
